? About 2001 SCREW, ABS and rotor replacment

I have a 2001 SuperCrew 2WD. I am curious if there if the pad replacment is different with ABS. I normally remove the caliper, use a C-clamp to open the caliper all the way, exchange the pads and reinstall. I always open the master cylider cap prior to this, and watch for overflow. Is this acceptable with ABS, or will it affect it any way?

I need to replace my rotors, but I cannot get the caliper housing off. Can anybody tell me what size socket it takes? I have tried everything I can find, but nothing fits!!

That's the way I do it. With all the vehicles I've had that used ABS.

You might want to scroll down this link to the "how to -- brake" section. Got the info you need.

Thanks for the link. I have never bled power brakes and I always thought it was much more involved than standard brakes. According to this, it is the same. I have also never opened the bleeder valve to compress the calipers, I have always opened the resovoir and compressed the calipers very slowly with a C clamp.

On 2wd F-150's the rotors and hubs are one piece. So, you'll need to swap (or replace) the bearings as well. 4x4's have the separate rotos and hubs, like most FWD vehicles.

As for pad replacement, yep, same procedure you gave as any other non-abs vehicle. Highly recommend bleeding the lines. No different than non-ABS on these trucks.
