I'm torn between an 18" and 20" setup...

I'd be looking at a 33" tire with a 2" leveling kit. I'm guessing the only cons of the 20" would be cost? Maybe a little harsher ride?

What do you guys think?

Right, and you would have less rim protection off road. Personally, I think 33's would look better on 18's.

I'm just basing this off the Dodge I sold, which had 275-60-20's I believe.

I'm thinking I'd either want 305-55-20 or some 325-60-18.

the 20's will look better but like wandell said you wont have as much protection for the rims. If all your worried about is cost go ahead and get the 20's, tires for the 18's are pretty expensive also so why not go ahead and go with the 20's.

That's why I was leaning toward 20's. In all reality, I won't be hammering this truck offroad. I love it too much and its far to new. It will see some dirt and gravel on the way to fishing holes up here in AK and some snow and ice in the winter, but no serious offroading. I have a Polaris Ranger for that

I would go ahead and get the 20's especially if you plan on goin to a larger than 33" tire down the road

That was my other thought...I may want a small lift and 35's later. Thanks for the input guys.

18s are much cheaper.

Mange Sep 3, 2006 09:24 AM

Usually only about 25-50 bucks per wheel. I've been looking at the same scenario myself. Very difficult decision.

Clayton74 Sep 3, 2006 02:34 PM

Plus about 25 to 50 per tire too, right?

Mange Sep 3, 2006 05:05 PM

No, actually more like 25-75 more per tire, depending on what you get.

I'm in the very same boat, torn between 18's or 20's. I have decided to wait unil my OEM tires get used up, but if I don't think I will go larger than 33's I'm going to highly likely get 18" wheels for the larger side wall. I have seen some 20X10's with 33's that I do really, really like though......

D'oh!

Where were you looking at getting your set up locally or online, I live just outside of Anchorage, and the big place I know to go is Muffler City, but they are too expensive for what you get. And IMO get 18's
