Unhappy '94 F-150 abs issue

I am new to the F-150 forums. I have a 1994 F-150 5.8L V8. I recently went out to take a load of gabage to the landfill when I found out the issue that I am currently having. After I started the F-150 the abs light was blinking and the truck wouldnt shift into gear. I did a little troubleshooting and thought that the issue that I was having was a blown fuse. After I replaced the fuse I started the truck and I noticed a large amount of smoking coming out from under the hood. I shut the truck off immediately and found that what I beleive to be a sensor on the front of the master cyclinder had caught on fire. I removed the wiring from the sensor as well as disconnected the battery. I was wondering if anyone had an clue as to what the sensor that I managed to torch was. Thanks.

It's the cruise control sensor, a mass recall that I think includes your truck is under way. Talk to a dealer about this and maybe have a report done. Usually I think it fails for a while before fires etc., but that is what that sensor is.

Congratulations!

Your truck just got recalled last week in an effort to prevent what just happened to you. Your recall letter probably isn't even in the mail yet.

Review the Safety and Recall forum for information.

Make certain the harness to the speed control deactivator switch on the master cylinder remains disconnected until the dealer makes the necessary repair.

Actually they're just expanding the orginal recall to included more models from what I've read since it's the same issue as recalls in 05, I have a '95 and got the recall notice last year not too long after I purchased the truck.

That just means your ABS system is offline. Normal braking is not affected.
