frt rotors, 2WD, 1996: Remove spindle nut 1st?
To remove my front rotors on a 1996 2WD Explorer (same as Ranger, I think), do I have to remove that "Nut Retainer" and then the "Hub Spindle Nut?" Or can I just pound away at the rotor? (I've removed the Hub Grease Cap.)
I think that I have to remove those 2 things, but I'll be pressed for time and really don't want to do any unnecessary steps. Thanks!

Yes, "spindle nut" must be removed 1st
Just in case someone else has the same question, I thought I'd add the answer to my own question.
1) After removing the Grease Cap, one must remove the spindle nut.
2) Then, the outer wheel bearing is free to slide out and the rotor free to slide off (mine almost slid off on my foot).
3) B/C of the wheel bearing parts, the rotor replacement isn't nearly as quick as on other cars/trucks. It took an extra hour or so to repack new wheel bearings, etc. Hopefully, it will be worth it (haven't test driven yet).:o
