Hey everyone. I just got the brake lines fixed on my F150, but one thing that I have continued to read about online that has gotten me concerned is that using brass compression fittings on brake lines is a definite NO-NO.
I only had to use one of these fittings, on the line that goes from the master cylinder to the front brakes.
If these are really that dangerous, the man at Carquest didnt seem to know about it. I'd never heard anything about compression fittings before, so I never questioned the guy about it. I know that they cant be that dangerous, because whoever had the truck before I did used one of these on the same exact spot that I had to use it.
I just wanted to get everyone's .02 cents on them.

Compression fittings + brake lines = disaster waiting to happen. There's a reason every vehicle sold in the US uses flared fittings at every connection: Compression fittings won't hack it. They'll let loose at the time when you need them most.

Replace 'em ASAP.
