'97 rear brakes - how to disconnect the parking brake?
I've got the rear drum brakes all disassembled, but I made the mistake of disconnecting the cable nub from the parking arm. In order to put it back, I need to create some slack in the cable. Where the P.B. cable exits the ferrule (under the cab floor on the side of the chassis) is a simple-looking connector: an open-sided sleeve that captures the two cable terminations.
I have been fighting for 30 mins, trying to get this connector apart! It is not rusted, and it doesn't look welded. Using visegrips and a screwdriver blade to spead the sleeve slightly hasn't worked, and is starting to damage the connector. I figure there has to be some little shop trick to getting it apart. Anyone know what it is?
Alternatively, is there another way to disconnect the P.B., short of removing the whole pedal ***'y from under the dash? Don't want to do that...

Oh never mind, Mom, I figured it out myself...
I used a hole thru the frame to bolt a plate to hold down the connector, then massaged the cable nub with a pinpunch and a large hammer until it slid right out - piece of cake
Thanx anyway ~ RL
