Looking for a long lasting 39.5"/40" tire.

My Dad has a 93 F250 4x4. He has 16.5" wheels with 39.5" TSL Super Swampers. He keeps getting reemed on tires and they wear out fast. He is just looking for a big street tire in a 39.5" or 40" size. He is strictly wanting long lasting, he does not really off road it. If he went with any smaller tires, the truck would look a little funny cause of how big it is. Here is a pic...any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

WRONG FORUM SORRY!

From what I know, the only tires that you're going to find in the 40" size are going to be very aggressive. These tires use a totally different rubber compound that is very soft giving you the off road traction that most people seek in a tire that big.

You might be able to find something, but in a 16.5" rim size, I don't think you're going to have any luck finding something that's going to handle asphault very well.

Good luck!..._motes

He might need to upgrade to a bigger wheel. There are PLENTY of much less aggressive tires that will last a lot longer and behave much better on the road.

the TRXUS AT is ok on mileage but will follow grooves on the road like all hell and isnt good offroad except sand

like thumper said, unless you go with a bigger wheel youre limited to the whole superswamper / mickey baja clow / PJ kinda tire, and neither of them are especially great on the road
