2004 F150 Tires?

My 2004 F150 extended cab came new with 235/75R/17. They look way toooo small. I went to repalce with 265/75R/17 & was told they would not install because of liability. (Not aproved on conversion chart.) I tried several places. No go! They are only 1.6 inches taller. What gives? Many F150's have 265s from the factory!

I agree... I stopped shopping at 4wheelparts. We have a chain in San Antonio, and they have sent me outta their store twice (2 different rangers) saying they won't put on a bigger tire w/o a lift. Whether it be liability or wanting a bigger sale... I am done with them... Discount tire or the local small shops never do me wrong... I always get what I want

I agree. Some of the larger stores are too liability consious. You can always just buy the tires and them remove your wheels and bring them in to have them installed. However, I wouldn't go to that much trouble. Just keep looking for a good shop.

Thanks Guys!

Thanks for the info! I had already planned to do just as you suggested. I just could not understand where the liability comes in because I thought some F150s come with larger tires already. Could be I'm wrong.

By the way, nice pics!

Just buy some FX4 take offs on ebay. Usually you can find the wheels and tires brand new for around 700 bucks. Get the bigger size wheel AND tire and you'll have no saftey issues. Plus you'll have a complete second set for the winter months.

Less than 10 miles on em!
