Super Swamper Irok Radials.

Hey guys just wanted to get some opinions on the super swamper iroks. Im planning on ordering the 33x13.5x20's. I do mostly highway/city driving. Little offroading here and there. I just love the aggressive look out of the tire. Are you able to get more than 15-20,000 miles outta them? Thanks!

You'll probably get a little more milage than that. However, you will probably be tired of them on your daily driver before they wear out.

I have the Super Swamper TSB (i think) they are 34's. I love them. They seem to pull harder in the mud than my old BFG Muds, but in sand they suck. Mine are wearing pretty good. Just keep them rotated. I rotate mine every 2000 miles.

They are a very aggressive tire. THis is great for offroad performance, but has some drawbacks on the pavement. First of all, they are very loud which gets on a lot of people's nerves quickly if they are not familar with mt's. They also have to be rotated regularly or they will begin to cup out and wear unevenly which makes the noise problem even worse. Also, a lot of mt's tend to ride rough at very low speeds. Somtimes you can feel the lugs slapping the pavement as you accelerate from a stop or come to a complete stop. This is if you get the radial version. If you go with the bias ply version you will have all of the above drawbacks plus others. Bias ply tires tend to flat spot overnight which causes them to vibrate badly untill they warm up. They also tend to wander on pavement. Remember, tires are always a compromise. No one tire will ride smoothly, last for 100,000 miles, corner on a dime, sling mud and resist punctures offroad. Just be aware of the plusses and minuses of each design.

Do you have any recommendations as for a tire for me? Something sorta aggressive looking but pretty good on pavement? You seem to be a tire guru.

I'd suggest a quality all terrian tire like the BFG AT KO, Toyo Open Country AT or Nitto Terra Grappler. The new Pro Comp Xtreme AT, Mickey Thompson Baja Radial ATZ and **** Cepek Radial FC II would also be good choices. All of these are available in 20 inch sizes.
If you are convinced you need a mud terrian tire and are willing to put up with their shortcomings on pavement, I'd suggest looking at the BFG MT KM, Goodyear MTR, or Toyo MT. You might also consider the new Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTZ. All of them will perform well off road, but will be better on pavement than the IROKS. I'm just not positive all of them are available in 20 inch sizes.

I would think you would have some rubbing. Most people running 18x9's with a leveling kit run 325/60-18 (33x13.00) tires. I would stick with that size. However, a 35 may fit if the Moto Metal wheels have a lot of backspacing (over 5.5 inches), but I don't think they do.
This member reports minor rubbing with 325/60's on 18x9 Moto Metals.

Man I would have to say run the tire that you want to. If a mud tire is what you want to run up and down the highway then do it. The look will always cover up the ride. Just remember to never go past 3000 miles before a rotation.
