i got a 97 f150 with the stock rims on it...over the last few years ive noticed that the wheel weight has somehow chemically reacted with the rim and caused a nasty lookin defect. Then the brake dust and what not gets on this and turns it black...looks terrible. I was wondering if this problem had happened to anybody else and what they did to fix it or at least make it look better???
Thanks

This happens to all wheels, which is why I never allow weights to be placed on the outside of my wheels. If the wheel is painted, try to polish it out with a rubbing compound or cleaner wax. If it's chrome, try a chrome polish. To prevent the problem in the future, tell you tire tech to use the tape style weights that are placed on the inner portion of the wheel.
