ABS light Flashing, Stuck in Park
ABS light Flashing, Stuck in Park
Yesterday my cruise control stopped working. Then my ABS light started flashing. So I pulled over, put the truck in park and turn off the engine.
Let it rest for about 5 minutes and turn the enging on but the truck is stuck in Park.
I replaced the #3 15A fuse under the dash and was able to drive it home. This morning I purchased and installed a new pressure switch on the master cylinder but it is still doing the same thing.....(blowing the fuse)
Any ideas out there???
It's a Ford F250 XLT 5.4L but the F150 body style......I've never had any problems before this and I have over 200,000 miles on her. I just had the Cruise control recall done 3 months ago.
Please Help???

First, unplug the speed control servo. Then, replace the #13 again and see what she does. It's possible that the speed control servo is causing the fuse to blow. That is a part of the replacement procedure for the recall on the brake pressure switch.

ABS light Flashing, Stuck in Park
GIJoecam! I was hoping I'd hear from you.....I've been checking your threads, it's how Ive gotten this far
Well I unplugged the speed control servo, replaced the fuse (I need to buy stock in the fuse company) went for another drive. Again, the ABS light started flashing again (although not right away, like usual, but within 3 blocks) and after I put it in Park, I couldn't get it out of Park again (without changing the fuse)
Since I wrote my first thread, I have also replaced the VSS on the differential and the Boo switch. I have visually checked wires and I'm at a total loss as to why the light still flashes, it gets stuck in park, etc. Hope I don't get a ticket on my test drives for no tail lights.
Any help is greatly, greatly appreciated.......
PS I was hoping I could get it figured out before my husband gets home from work.....but I only have 3 hours left.

It keeps flashing the ABS light and getting stuck in PARK because fuse keeps blowing. The fuse keeps blowing because too much current is going through it.
Really wish you had given the year of your truck. There are differences and, without the year, I can't be sure to look at the correct diagram.
Try checking the high mount stop lamp socket and, if needed, each of the corner brake lamp sockets.

1998 Ford F250 XLT
Sorry, and I appreciate the help, I have a 1998 Ford F250 XLT, 4x4, extended cab, 5.4L
I have just found the problem thanks to your message on checking the lights. (Hell I had checked everything else by this point.)
All my lights were good but then I checked the connections on the brake light on my bed shell.....sure as @#*%! the ground wasn't attached.....wasted a whole day and about 60.00........screwed a new heavy duty screw with a washer on it.....that baby ain't coming out again.....Well at least I know all about ABS, safety swicthes, and have gotten a really good look at the underneath of my truck and behind the dashboard....considering I put about 35,000 miles on it a year and I'm well over the 200,000 mile mark....It looks pretty damn good!!!!
You guys have been great!!!! Thank you again for mentioning the lights.....I thought for sure I was going to be taking her to the dealer tomorrow and paying BIG bucks for diagnostic tests!!
