Replacing Tires

Replacing my tires and currently running BFG 265/70R/17's on my 4x4 . Looking for recommondations. Not looking to save a buck, just a good riding tire that will last. I'm not to familiar with the brands and the quality and reliability of such. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Thanx

You can go to the tire rack online and search for tires by size. Then you can read the manufacturer specs i.e. wear rating ect. Also they will have reviews by people who have bought that tire. It also will give you a good idea on prices but you can figure buying locally you will pay a little more.

I'd suggest the 285/70-17 BFG AT KO's or Toyo Open Country AT's or 285/70-17 Nitto Terra Grapplers.

before you go crazy looking for 285's in the Nitto's, Wandell made a rare typo, the Nitto's are 295/70/17....285's are a great size, I have them and love them, but the 295's would look great too!.

tires

Take a look at the Cooper Discoverer ATR . I have them on my truck and they are great. Handle great and very quiet. Only $415 mounted and balanced for 265/70 17's

Wow, thanks for the replies. Here's what I know bout tires - I remeber purchasing a new set here and there in the past - the last time being back in 96 lol . I can't remember the brand I bought , but what 's stuck in my head is how much of a difference they made in the ride and handleing , it almost felt as though I had new suspension lol. Well, I have 170k on her and I'm confident I'll get another 100k easy so it's worth shelling it out for a nice set of shoes. I didn't buy these new but I have about 68k on the BFG's w/just enough rubber left to go out in style lol - 5.4 w/3.73's does that well!!

Thanx for the info

I would just like to add that I am very disappointed in the Nitto TG's. I have an 02' F150 4x4 with 265/75 R16 Nitto's and it is the worst $600 I have ever spent. 3 alignments later, balancing and all the goodies....they're still uneven, they still howl like a freight train. Probably going to Michelin LTX very soon.

Any company can make a lemon. It sounds like you got a bad set of Nitto's.

The Michelin LTX M/S tires are fantastic tires for everyday use. They worked really good in the snow too. My dad had them on his 2wd 94 and just replaced them after 7 years and ??? km's. Just another shout for Michelin's for Charcoal02.

Another Nitto fan here... I liked my bfg's as well, but I like the look and ride of nitto's better... I had both on my old rangers...
