best tires?
best tires?
best tires hands down, what are they? mostly on road use, cleveland ohio winters i have to battle and the stock junk that ford used just doesn't cut it. what do you guys recommend? i was thinking either BFG or pro comp.
Your brother must drive like hell because pro comps have a 50,000k warentee and I know people that have gone atleast that much on a set of them.
BFG ATs are the best all around, they got the look and the traction and ride well on the highway. Being in Cleveland, call Tireman at 216-741-9581. Its on the corner of fulton and biddolph and most of the time are cheeper then all the big chains around town.

is the traction good in snow and such on the pro comps...i may get the xtreme AT's. i hope they last 50,000. i had some tell me that i may get more out of the pro comps than the bfg at's.
I have the 285/65-18 BFG AT KO's on my FX4 and I HATE them. They shake from 60-65 MPH so badly I think my bed is going to come off. I have roughly 20k on them, and while the treadwear is the best around (traction is nice too), the shake has soured me on them. I have had this tire on my last 4 trucks, and never had this issue. Yes, they have been Hunter RF balanced and rebalanced etc etc.
My neighbor has had two sets of pro-comps and loves them. I'm looking at them next.

my buddy who works at a tire shop told me that the way ford's alignment was set up does something weird to the bfg KO's....yeah i'm gonna try the pro comp xtreme all terrains and see how they are.

I travel a LOT, and the only off-roading I do
is around construction sites, but I REALLY like the BFG "Long Trail" Radial T/A.
I get a nice smooth ride, decent mileage, all the ones I have had balance easily, and to me, they look good on the truck.

For mostly on-road driving, the Michelin LTX AS is hard to beat. Last a very long time, soft ride, and great traction on all road conditions. But, it's not an all terrain tire if you perfer that look. Revos are better than either of the two you listed if sticking to AT tires.
I'll second the vote for the Revo's. however, I've had BFG's before, too and I liked them just as much. The main difference between them is the look, the noise level and the price. These are probably the 2 tires I'll be looking the hardest at when it's time to replace the AT/S's on my truck now.
