Locking up on wet days.

Any1 have this problem. Every time I get into my truck after it has been raining and start to go down my road I can barely press the brake pedal and my brakes will lock up and the truck just scoots right along. Been doing this for about 2 months. Have had the brakes changed and everything checked out just fine.

Mine does that too. The rears lock up. Has done it ever since I got it.

Make that 3. I've read that it might be the speed sensor. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

Anywho, it's 3rd on my repair list at the moment. A/C Clutch and ABS problems come first.

ABS stands for Anti-lock Brake System.

I'm fully aware. I was just refering to my ABS light being on. The rears have always locked up in wet weather, and the ABS light is relatively new.

I see where you're coming from though as they could potentially be related

Mine does the same thing. It sends all of the breaking power to the front right on my truck. My mechanic said that it had something to do with the thing that equalizes the fluid. After about 5 long stops mine equalizes anyway. Does your fix itself or does it say real tight?

This comes up about once a month on here. It's a functional operating characteristic of drum brakes. They get grabby when they're damp and rusty. ABS won't make a difference as it's a mechanical issue. Higher quality shoes and drums are one solution, a rear disc conversion is another.

All Ford drum brakes have done that for as long as I've been driving (15 years now)
