Brake Swap

Hey...just joined up.....Anyway I own a 1995 Flareside 2wd & I was wondering if I could use the five lug conversion kit for a fox body mustang to convert the F150 to 4 wheel disc brakes from the mustang. I know there are ear disc conversions out there but I also want the 5 on 4.5 mustang bolt pattern to use their wheels....Can anyone out there help me???

No. The truck axles are 31 spline and a different length than the 28 spline Mustang axles. Also, you don't want the bolt pattern from the Mustang or the wheel, as the bolt pattern is inherently weaker and the wheels are not designed to support the loads a truck could potentially see.

Not sure where alcatraz was going as far as comparing spline count to axle length; but he's on the money as far as keeping 5x4.5-pattern wheels off a full-size 1/2 ton. Friend of mine has been searching "forever" for a replacement factory aluminum rim on his '94 Ranger Splash - he found out (the hard way) that those rims wouldn't support a 1/2-ton-sized load.

Wilwood and SSBC make disc-brake conversion kits for '95 F150's; and the company that makes the billet Magnum 500 copies offers them in a 5x5.0 pattern. Can even get them in 17x8" sizes for my '02 4x4; but I'm concerned about their load capacity, especially if I ever put all three horses in the trailer and take off.
