Best tires & rims for my 98 f-150

Hello everyone,
I could really use all of your opinions! I own a 98 ford f-150 4x4 offroad regular cab. I currently have bf goodrich all terrains 265/70/17, and they have been a great tire for me, but its time for a new set. Those amazingly have about 75,000 miles on them!
Anyway I want a more aggressive mud tire now, just really like that look, and i do alot of hunting. So my question is what do you all recommend, keeping price in mind? I would like to know what is the biggest size I can fit? 285? 305? And also should I keep the stock 17 x 7.5 rims? What will give me the best look without having to buy an expense lift, preferably no lift at all? I want a more aggressive and bigger look and possible the tires to look wider? the 265's just look really small....any help would be much appreciated.

CJ

you can fit 285's easily with the stock rims.....
305's are a tight fit, but can be done if you crank the torsion bars and maybe trim a little around valence (I dont know how that works on a '98)......

I've got 285's on stock rims with stock suspension and I am much happier than the 265's. I would like to have 305's and might go that big next time. Take a look at my gallery for pics.

Good luck

I've run 305/16 BFG's mounted on aftermarket 8" rims on my 98 4x4 since new without any sort of lift or torsion bar tweak. Great handling on and off road and have never even scrubbed the factory splash aprons yet.

I'd go with 305's and you can always tweak it later if you need to.

you could do a 3" body lift and put 35's on it would look something like this

without the mud

rims are 16x8 mt classic II's with 315/75/16 baja radial claws

tires rims mounting balancing 3" pa body lift 4 rough country nitro shocks and single steering stabilizer
was only 1729 shipped right to my door

Or go to a 10 inch wide aftermarket wheel with a set of 33's.
