Hello,
I bought a 99 F150 stepside. I tried to get my spare tire off today. I did not need to get it off , I just wanted to see if I could. The tire lever that was in the truck does not lower the spare. Does this take some special tool and where can I get one?

There should be a bar underhood over the rad and plastic cover that'll take it off. Beside your rear license plate there should be a hole in the bumper and a funnel cone. Stick the long end of the bar in there and turn counterclockwise, this should do it- honestly, I don't see yours bieng different than my 2000 even 4x2 vs. 4x4. If you figure it out, which ever way it's done, don't allow the wire to be winched back in place without weight on it, it'll mess it up and there is no fix. Always winch with a little resistance, or just don't take the tire out. It has to be rolled up tight. Hope this helps ya man.
