front rotors and pads.
hey i was just wondering everyones opinion on what new front rotors i should get and what pads. i plan on having a 6inch lift and 35's with 4.56 front and rear soon. i have a 2000 f-150 5.4 with 4x4. its a super cab and i live in duluth mn.... which has very steep hills the closer you get to lake superior. the stock ones (which i have now) seem to fade pretty fast. also does anyone know where i can get a tear down pics of a caliper so i can grease slides and what not. this is my first brake job myself which i dont see as very hard but would rather have all the info/tricks before i start. thanks everyone.
This pretty much breaks it down simple style: http://www.fordf150.net/howto/brakerepair.php No pics but you can see what they're talking about if you reference it while you replace the brakes. Most pad kits have diagrams anyway. The link references using a sledge to take the rotors off but that's depending on where you live i think (or drive). I do mostly highway driving in Southern California so my rotors came off by hand. If you live where it snows/rains alot that's probably not possible. Seriously is real simple.
