305/70/17 Buckshots...

... on a OEM 17x7.5" wheel?

Is this tire too wide a tire for this wheel?

Would the 285/70/17 be a better fit on this wheel?

They will fit. All I can say is that several members here and at FTW are running 315/70-17's on OEM wheels with no problems. You should be fine.

How well do they do in the mud for you? Are they really off road capable?

These will just be fun tires, not daily drivers.
