gear damage with larger tires?

Hey gentlemen,

This question goes hand in hand with Stainless Mags question. I too am looking to get larger tires on my 2002 F-150 FX4. I currently have stock P265/70/R17 on my truck and I would like to get LT285 or LT295/70/R17 put on; my question is how will these larger tire sizes affect the long term life of my gears, powertrain etc? I understand the speedometer and gas mileage will be off slightly but what other things should I be concerned with? Any help would be appreciated.

thank you

Jesse
P.S. I have an automatic transmission

I'm sure they will have a very slight affect on the life of parts, but so will towing and hauling. A don't think a 33 or 34 inch tire is gonna have enough affect over the life of the truck for you to notice.
