New tires for my 04' Fx4 and ideas?

I recently bought a set of Nitto Terra Grappler (285 60 18) and I found out very quickly that they shouldn't be on the market. I have 12,000 miles on them and I have to scrap them. I am look at the new Toyo Open Country M/T (33" 12.50 18) of course with the 2.5" coil spacer, but they said i could fit 35" any thoughts?

I believe that the nittos are made from softer rubber than the toyos but they are basically the same tire. If you run 35's you will have a little rub but probably nothing you can't live with.

im runnin 33x12.5R18 toyo mts on my 05 fx4 with a 2.5" leveling kit- i tried 35's they rubbed on my fenders, and hit my arms when turning. with the 33's i have full clearance everywhere, and they rock-

the toyo a/t's and the nitto terra grapplers are essentially the same tire...the toyo m/t's and the nitto mud grapplers are two entirely different beasts

Did they rub because of the width of the tire or just overall height ? If I remember correctly the Nitto and Toyo are actually 13" wide instead of 12.5",
could be wrong.

I think many would agree that you should probably stick to 33's with the leveling kit, to prevent rubbing issues mainly due to height. You could stuff
35's but you will have some rubbing and clearance problems. Specially if you want to go wheelin'. It's your call.

Were you trying to use stock rims or aftermarket ? Heard that stock rims don't cause problems but aftermarket with less inproper backspace will. So which did you try ?

I curious because I'm about a month out from getting wheels and tires and would like to go with 35s. Thanks

How did you only get 12000 from them? Off-roading, rubbing issues, was the tire properly inflated. You state no reason to your argument. I'm not busting your chops, but I'm curious. I have Nittos on myelf and have no issues with them. I'm going on only 5K but see no wear yet. I love my Nittos better than my Goodyears.

So i finally broke down and bought the 04' 17" expedition wheels and as soon as i install my spacer lift i will be putting on 305/70/17 goodyear mtrs, those equate to a 34x12.2 or so. Hopefully they wont rub too bad. As soon as i get the cash i will powdercoat the wheels to match the bottom of my fx4 what do yall think?
