my brakes are "clunking" (i think)

My 99 has occassionallystarted to clunk when I slow down. At first I thought it was a transmission thing from downshifting (automatic) to a stop. But after braking with the truck in N it still clunks (just once and not all the time). I can feel the brake pedal react to this clunk and I even hear the ABS compressor start to chatter. Any similarities to your situation?

Anyone out there got any ideas?

Also when I check the drums the pass side drum is a lot warmer that the drivers side.

Brake calipers are sticking or your rotors are warped!

if anybody cares...

I took my drums off last night, and found the problem. The spring, and the the thing that catches the adjuster star was mangled and rolling around in the left side. It was getting caught in there when I braked and locking up the wheel.

Also this was probably caused by the parkling brake cable that was in there having snapped. No tellin how long it had been this way.

Needless to say it was a real mess. Replaced the drums, shoes and all the hard ware.

Everything went back together but now I have a shudder when I stop.

Any ideas?
