05 4x2 xlt 5.4l w/stock 17" rims: How far, if any would the 265/70/17s stick out of the wheel wells? Also I heard you cant fit the 285/70/17 with out the front leveling kit, is that true?

appretiate any feed back

The 265 x 70 should stick out almost identical to whatever you are currently running. The wheel determines how far they stick out. As to your question on the 285s, I am curious about that myself.

I am currently running 255 x 65 and was told at a tire store that I should go to 265 x 70 to fill up the well a little more. But, I want 285s if they will not rub. I hate that big space around the tire.

yeah i would really like the 285s but i dont want the leveling kit, i like the stance of the rig w/the nose lower than the rear.

I just could not handle that huge unfilled space in the rear. I lowered the rear end 2" with a shackle kit. The rear is still slightly higher than the front. Take a look at my gallery.

The 265's will not stick out much, they wont stick past the fender wells in any case, not on the stock wheels.
If you dont do a leveling kit, I would stick with the 265s, if you decide to put on the leveling kit, you can fit 285's.

i went through a moss motors catalog and it showed a polyurethane 2.5 level kit for the front and rear. as my previous post states (i like the stance of the vehicle) is this a good brand? or is there something better out there?

I upgraded to Revo 265/70/17s from the crappy 235 Hangook tires and mine dont stick out a bit. They fill the wheel well alot better though.
