tire size questions

Need some help.

I have a 01 SuperCrew 2WD Lariat. Currently have 275/60-17 tires on it. What is the largest size tire I can put on it w/o having to do a lift? Will a 265/70-17 fit?

If I do buy a lift, should I get a body lift or suspension lift? I would just like for it to be the stock 4WD height, which is 3" higher than my 2WD.

Thanks!

You're going from a 30 inch tire to about a 31.5 inch tire. I would imagine that it would fit, but let one of the more knowledgable people around here sound off.

BTW, there is an excellent tire size calculator located at http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Give it a try...

You can stuff a 285/75-16 on a stock 4x2, but it's a tight fit. I wouldn't do it unless you plan on lifting it in the near future. I'd stick with a 265/75-16 if you decide to stay at stock height.

I noticed you said the stock tire size is 275/60-17. I had the same stock tire size on my 2WD Scab. I put the 285/70/17 BFG on with my stock suspension. They fit but were extremely stuffed and I did have some rubbing when turning lock to lock. I eventually got a 6" lift so I don't have that problem now. I have some pics in my gallery before and after.

I have the exact same truck as you and i have 265/70/17 bfg all terrains on my truck, this is the best size for a 2x4 non-lifted! the 285's look to stuffed unless u get a leveling kit. You may want to think about that because as soon as u get the 265's you will want a little bigger.

It was about $1450 for the kit from Race Car Dynamics (RCD). Total cost was close to 3k after some additional parts and labor.
