replacing/upgrading brakes
I have a 2000 4x4 F-150 XLT in which i'm looking to upgrade both the pads and the rotors. Any suggestions on brand/style/size?
I would think the stock caliper are good enough?????

Upgrade??
What do you want to upgrade??? What are you doing with the truck? Rock climbing vs racing require very different things from your brakes. Simply want better stopping distances...try Satisified brake pads, they make very good products, but you must be realistic with their use. Does you brake pedal go to the floor? New pads will not fix that. Does the pedal feel spongy? New pads will not fix that. A cheap improvement will be to change the brake fluid. All of it. Pads would be next in the expense department. Then think about braided stainless replacement hoses. Cross drilled/slotted rotors only help if you generate the heat. Do you tow alot. Talk to SSBC they do excellent brake kits that cover the spectrum.

A good inexpensive enhancement would be to add some crossdrilled/slotted rotors with EBC greenstuff pads. The EBC pads produce less dust hence making less cleaning for you. They also grab better, improving stopping distances. The slotted part of the crossdrilled/slotted rotor acts almost like a razor blade, keeping the pad with a fresh surface. The crossdrilled part aids in heat dissipation. Heat is the number 1 enemy of any braking system, reguardless of how you use your vehicle. Heat builds up and glazes pads and rotors, over time warping the rotors if they get to hot to often or extremely hot on a more severe service duty (like driving the chit out of it) Heres a picture of mine from a couple months back when I did it. I have since painted my calipers red, which makes everything stand out nice. You may want to consider painting them while you are doing the brakes if you do want to paint them though, as taking it all back apart to paint is a biatch. THe paint is cheap, like $15 at autozone.
