Question Weights on chrome wheels?

I just had the dealer install the new chrome 18" Lariat wheels on my 2004 f-150. When I got home I saw that they put weights on the outside lip of the wheel. Should I be upset or is this normal? It really ruins the look of the nice chrome wheel.

I'd take it back and have them use sticky weights on the inside of the wheel.

Its normal...I dont see why you should be upset over it.
But you can ask them to put the weights on the inside of the wheel.

They do make nice weights for the outside that look ok. This will give you the best balance.

They have static and dynamic balancing. The weight on the outside is meant to balance the tire properly. Although it is not visibly appealing, hanging the weight to the outermost aspect of the wheel allows for a more even balance than placing it inside the wheel due to the rotational force of an unbalanced tire. I have heard of the way you describe being the best for balancing heavier tires but not a very clean look. It also depends on the type of weights they use. I have seen some nice clean look and some really crappy stuff. But don't take my word. I'm no freakin' scientist, just what I have read online and heard from a couple of shops. Could be just opinions as well.??!!!

when i worked at the local shop we used weights on the outside. much easier to balance. the inside does look better. it's just a lil more time consuming... but take it back if you want and ask them to use inside only.
