Need Tires...........any good recommendations?

I'm looking for new tires for my truck.

265/70-17

I'm looking for a good all around tire, no off-roading, snow for 4 months.

Any good ones to look for?

Any good online sources to save money?

Steve

There is no single source for the best prices on tires in my experience. Search online, then call around locally. Don't forget to add shipping and mounting/balancing to the online price. Tirerack and Discount Tire have pretty good prices for online. As for what tire to get: See this survey and this survey for the comparisons. A good all terrain or highway all season tire would be good for you.

Steve - I just bought Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's 265/70-17 for my KR 4x4 Supercrew about 3 weeks ago. If it helps, here's what I paid to use as a baseline:

Tires - $137 each from Tirerack
Shipping - $65
Tax - $0
Mount and balance - $80 total.

There was also a $75 rebate from Bridgestone (not reflected in above prices) - rebate offer ended in mid-Oct.

I had Tire Rack ship them to an authorized installer here in NJ and waited a couple hours while they installed them.

Hope this helps.... love the tires!!!

I would also recommend the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVOs. They are supposed to be really good in the snow, and they are a good all around tire.

I was thinking about Pirelli Scorpions..........they seem to be a good tire at a fair price.

Shipping is not an issue, I have an "in" for shipping, so I get that very very cheap.

BFG TKO's are great..........but at $166 per tire........that's a bit more then I'm looking to spend.

Something right around $100 per tire would be good, with good snow performance and a great all-season ride.

I don't think you can beat the Michelin LTX for a great all around tire.

Check out the Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT, got a set this summer and have been happy with them. Do alot of fishin and they handeled the muddy and graveled boat launches very well, and they are Snow certified. Have to head to the mountains since they are finally getting snow up there this year. Paid around 500 bucks out the door this summer, but right now Dunlop is runnin a 50 dollar rebate

I think you will find the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's in that size from Tire Rack, are back ordered for both the LT, and the P metric. I just bought the LT's from a dealer, "paid too much for them, but needed the tires now." I haven't had them long enough to have much of an opinion about them yet.

I concur. Of all the truck tires I've had the Revos are by far the best.

The Firestone Destination LE and AT both looked as thought they are very good. Does anyone have these on their truck?

A local tire place around here sells Wild Country tires............any info on those?

Steve - try doing a "search" on the tire that you are interested in... you'll probably find opinions, etc on almost every make/model tire that fits our trucks.... (the search button is up in the black banner above.... use "advanced search" if you get too many results)

Wall-mart sells Wild Country. A friend bought a set a year ago, same truck. I asked him about them, he said, "Cheep, you get what you pay for."

Destination LE

I have them on my truck and they are an excellent street tire. Great dry and wet weather traction. The have a 60k treadwear warranty. I have had them on my truck for almost 20k and they have little wear on them. You should be able to get a set mounted, balance and out the door for under $500. I recommend that you put about 40 lbs of air pressure in them or they will not feel right. This is due to it being a LT tire and not a passenger car tire like the cheap ones that come on the truck. I think they are a great tire.

Firestone Destination AT and Wild Country XTX are the 2 I'm interested in.

The Wild Country XTX I can get for $512 all mounted up and out the door.

I'm going to a place tomorrow to see about the Firestone Destination AT.

Destination AT

I have the Destination AT and in my opinion they would be hard to beat for the dirving you described. I drive the same type of conditions and a little offroading. They have great wet/dry traction and do well in mud and snow. I have the 265/75/16 and out the door price including mounting was under $500.00.

Good luck with your decision.
