Stupid Idea?

My F-150 is 2-wheel drive, but I'd like to jack it up a bit and put some nice large all-terrain tires on it to make it look good.

Is that a stupid thing to do to a truck that isn't a 4x4?

Opinions appreciated.

Whether its stupid or not relies on whether the owner can afford to replace his vehicle with a 4x4, whether it gets used off road, and several other little tidbits. If you just want a beefier lookin truck, more power to ya

There is a kid down here near me with an 01 F-150 with 14" lift, 40" tires, all kinds of crap that shouldn't be on any truck, and its 2wd

There is a reason every major suspenion kit manufacturer makes lift kits for 4x2's and it's not because it is a stupid idea. I say go for it.

There are plenty of people on here that have 4x2s lifted, go for it. Just dont waste your money on lifting the truck and then decide you want a 4x4.

I won't be able to get a 4x4 because this truck was my 16th birthday present and I won't be getting a new vehicle for a while since I'm still 16. I'm asking for the lift and larger tires for Christmas. Hopefully it will happen, but if not it's okay because I feel really fortunate just to have a truck this nice, leather an' all.

Anyway, many thanks for the advice.

Oh, what's this business about adjusting the spedometer if I get larger tires? How do I go about doing that?
