Need tire recomendation

Hi y'all - I have an 04 Screw 4x2 XLT with the stock 17 wheels. I need to get the tires replaced - I've been looking at different reviews online and can't decide what I should be getting. I was looking at the BFG Long Trails (265/65/17) but some reviews mentioned that they were terrible in the rain. I do almost no off-road driving so I am looking for a city/hwy tire. From a safety standpoint, I want to make sure to get a tire that does really well in the rain. But, I also don't want to spend a fortune. Any suggestions???

Thanks!

Steve

If you want an all terrian tire, you may want to consider the Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's. I hear they do great in the rain as well as everywhere else.

I've had the Radial Long Trails on my truck, 05 Lariat 2WD 265/60/18, since new & I've never had a problem with wet traction. I would recommend them to anyone with a 2WD truck. I've never been 4 wheelin so I don't know if they would be any good on a 4WD.

The rating at the bottom of the page indicates these tires have excellent wet traction. I suspect those who are saying these tire are no good have never driven on them. That's usually how it works, morons with no experience with the product in question will be the first to say it sucks.

KC-10 FE out...

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking at the Firestone Destination LE. the 275/60/17 is almost exactly the same height as the stock 255/65/17 but is a little wider. Tire rack has good reviews on them as well.

Here's a question for anyone who can answer. Knowing that a slightly taller tire makes you go faster that the speedo says and you lose a little low end torque, how about mileage? Better on highway but less in the city? and does a 1" difference really make that big of a difference?

I have the Destination A/T and love them. I do a little off road driving and Hunting so I went with the A/T over the LE. I think either would be a good choice. Firestone / Bridgestone is the same company and they use the same tread compound. The Firestone's are a little cheaper but have the same quality.

Good luck with your choice

I have Dunlop AXVT and is great in wet and looks like it would be good in snow. Mine are 275/70/17 , has real good ride and no noise

Talking

I went with the Destination LE's and stepped up to 265/75/16 from 255/70/16 which is bout an inch difference. I am still able to get 15mpg driving like a racer and I have not recalibrated so it could probably be better.

Thumbs up

Oh yeah, they have excellent wet and dry traction. Saved me from a wreck once so I am sold.

I've got the Bridgestone Dueller A/T Revos and I love them! They don't slip at all in the rain! And they're quieter than my old Goodyears.
