31s wont fit stock rims?

Hi all,

I have a '95 F150 4x4 EC. No lift or leveling coils. I want to put a set of BFG AT/KO on the stock rims (235/75-15). Discount Tire Direct tells me no problem with 31s. Tire Rack tells me no way will 31s fit on the 6.5" wide rims. I haven't visited the forums in a while, but I recall guys putting 31s on stock rims with no problem. Am I wrong? I apologize if this has been covered here (it probably has), but I'm busier than a 1-armed paperhanger and don't have time to search too deeply into old posts. I did a quick search and didn't find any info. Thanks.

Mathematically speaking (and not from first hand experience at mounting these tires to those rims on that truck).

235/75R15 is roughly 29x9.25 inch sized tire

BFG AT/KO 31x10.50-15 (109Q/60316/439-895) might fit on that rim...they recommend a 7-9 inch rim.

How much room between the current tire and any suspension components?

I reckon if you have more than 1.25" of space currently then you'd probably be OK with the 31x10.50, otherwise try the 30x9.50-15 (104Q/50534/439-890). The 30x9.50 is a little wider and 1/2 inch taller.

There's a 33x9.50 (113Q/95155/439-938) listed as well if the width is bad but you want more height.

Thanks. I made some calls locally, and it looks like a 30" is the largest tire I can safely put on those rims. I'd like some wider rims, but it's not in the cards right now. So, I guess I'll be looking for 30s unless someone has some strong evidence otherwise.
