My ABS light has been on for some time now. I replaced the rear differential sensor, and reset the computer. LIght is still on. The Brakes work fine, but NO ABS at all. all 4 lock up, so its obviously not working.

Took it to a friend. he did some checking and told me its the module. Said it takes about 20 minutes to change but its pricey. He said around $800.

Any comments from anyone out there? I hate to drop $800, and find out this is not the cuase. Is there anything else I can look for?

 

Having started driving 35 years before ABS became common I'm not a big fan of the system. If it were me I would be inclined not to spend the money. But I would want to know two things before following that course:
Will it do any harm to the vehicle?
Is it part of your State's auto inspection requirements (none for me)?

 

When The Abs System Fails Or Has A Problem It Defaults . Meaning You Will Still Have Brakes Just No Abs Thus The Locking Up Will Happen !!! And Yes The Ecu And Hcu ARE Pricey !!!

 

What codes were stored?

 

Dumb suggestion, but did you check the 5 amp ABS fuse? I'm having problems with my ABS coming on right at the end of the stop so I pulled the fuse until I figure out the problem, but the fuse makes the ABS light and the brake light come on. Maybe this is your problem?

I think it's fuse #25.

 

Something I've notcied in other vehicles, when the brake fluid level is below a certain point, the ABS light will come on.

Might not be the case with these trucks, but worthy of mention.
