Question Need New Grippers

Its time for some new treads . I know everyone has changed tires at one point or another . My ? is what have you found that works best on the 4x4 f-150,s for best traction in the winter ? I want the big adgressive look but alot of big lug patterns are terrible in the snow . Right now i have some 285x75rx16 darango m/t w/ a big lug and it dosnt like the wet roads very well.Has anyone tryed the cooper discovery stt,s they have the same big lug look w/ smaller grooves in the lug for wicking water out. Im also thinking of droping a size to a 265 to get some mpg back . with a new fresh motor i ran it up north for break in and i got 15mpg on the 1st tank of gas. on the 2nd it improved, my guess it will get better as the motor loosens up ,it still shutters when you get up in the high r,s (3-4k) i had it up to 17mpg before the big tires and the way gas is these days i thought it might be better to drop a size and keep the rough look . any suggestions ?

FOr winter use everyone seems to like the BFG AT KO's, 265/75/16 would be the size if you want to go smaller and don't mind the gaps in the fender wells

The BFG AT KO's, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Toyo Open Country AT or Bridgestone Dueler AT's would be a good choice.
