Does 2001 5 lug fit on 98 5 lug?

I am looking at a set of wheels for my 98 2wd. Is the lug pattern on the '01 the same as the '98? I assume the offset will match if they worked on the other f150.

Yes 5x135mm. But the size of the lug studs is different. Yours are 12mm and the 01 has 14mm. Your lugs should center themselves. I would recommend tightening to 100 ft/lbs.

Kickin,
I am not sure I understand the mm sizing. Are you referring to the length of the lug studs? Will I be able to use the current lug nuts still? What do you mean by 'center themselves'.

Thanks for your help.

The bolt pattern is the same, the stud size is different. Just use lug nuts for the year model the truck is.

Hello,
I wanted to comment on the statement that the wheel would center itself on the lugs. Is that true? As I remember, our trucks don't have tapered lug nuts. They're "hub-centric". All our lug nuts do is hold the wheel to the hub, not locate the wheel. From what I have understood, a 14mm lug wheel would be centered on the hub of a 12mm wheel truck, but there would be play between the wheel and the hub in the rotational direction and eventually the lug holes would become elongated/distorted. Someone on this discussion page once upon a time was trying to find and/or fabricate shims/spacers to fix this issue. I can't remember his name. Somebody chime in and let me know if I'm on the right track.

I took wheels off a 99 and put them on a 03 for someone and they fit but the thicker lugs were a tight fit. The only way to really tell is to try them. If the wheels were lug centric for the older truck they won't fit, but if they are hub centric they will work. Are you talking about factory wheels or after-market?

The "new" wheels are aftermarket. I believe MB Motoring from America's Tire. I am still a bit unsure on this. I do not want to put myself or the truck at risk by "rigging" the wheels on.

The OEM wheels are hub centric. Most aftermarket wheels are lug centric. Weld is the only hub centric aftermarket wheel I can think of at the moment. You need to buy a set of aftermarket lug nuts to mount the aftermarket wheels on your year model truck.
