Pro Comp tires

I was going to order some Pro Comp all terrain 33/12.50-17 tires but one of the guys at my work told me they are really noisy on the road. Is this true? Also, would the tire size above be the same size as the 285/70-17 BFGs or are the Pro Comps mentioned above a little wider?

I've got Procomp a/t's. They are a little noisy when your driving next to a wall at 65 mph on the freeway. At city speeds they are not too bad. They are not as loud as other trucks I here drive by me.

I've never heard anyone complain about the Pro Comp AT's being loud. The 33x12.50-17 is the same height as the 285/70-17 (33x11.50) but they are an inch wider.

Pro Comps

I called Pro Comp distributer. They said the 33/12.50 R 17s are equal to 305 /75 R17. I hope they told me right because I have 285/70 R17s on now. I just ordered the 33/12.50 R17s to get a bigger tire under. I might have to trim the front wheel wells.

A 33x12.50-17 would be approximately a 305/65-17. The Pro Comp is gonna be almost identical in height to your 285/70-17's but it will be about an inch wider.

pro comp tires

Will the 33x12.5x17 tire fit on my stock 99 4x4 without any scrubbing? I now have stock 16" tires and rims but would like to upgrade to bigger tires and rims.

I have a 97' and my 285/75/16's rub on the font valance, just barely. Also, you can only hear them rubbing when in reverse.

I assume that is a typo because you can't mount a 17 inch tire on a 16 inch wheel. But to answer your question, a 33x12.50 is a little too wide for a stock 16x7 or 17x7.5 inch wheel. If you are gonna add a wider aftermarket wheel in the near future, you should be fine. You may need to crank up the torsion bars slightly to fit 33's with the OEM wheels. You will have to crank them up or trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower valance to fit 33's with wider 8 to 10 inch wide aftermarket wheels on a 4x4.
