Redundant tire question: how big can I go?

How big of a tire can I use on my '97 F150 ext. cab 4x4, while still using the stock 17" wheels? Came with 265/70/17 from the factory...will 285/70's fit w/no clearance issues?

You can run 315/70-17 (35x12.50) on your truck by using the stock wheels and cranking up the torsion bars. THis is an extremely tight fit however. I wouldn't do it unless you plan on installing a lift in the near future.
