Biggest tires I can fit

What are the biggest size tires I can fit on my 1999 F-150 supercab 2wd? Right now it has 255/70/R16. I don't want to deal with any rubbing or major trimming. Also, what tires would you recommend?

you can generally fit 265/75R16 on the 97-03 2wd pickups. Thats what im running right now, as for what tires to get, it all depends on where you drive and what you doi with your truck. If you get off the road everynow and then, any allterrain will work, the BFG AT seem to be really popular, ands so is the Bridgestone Revo, and also the Nitto Terra Grappler. All of these have reallly good road manners. If you're off the road quite a bit, you could step up to some more aggressive tread, such as the BFG Mud Terrain, or other mud tires, but with these aggressive treads you sacrifice some wet road driving due to lack of siping, they make a little more noise on the road, and you wont get as many miles out of em. Check out some tire sites and look around at what others have.
BTW, I'm running some Cooper Discovery S/T , kind of between an all terrain and mud terrain, i am really happy with them, not too expensive either

I agree, 265's are about as big as you want to go if you do not want to do any modification.

I agree. I have seen 285/75-16's on stock 4x2's, but I would stick with 265's unless you plan on lifting the truck.

I would like to lift the truck, but I don't plan on doing it anytime soon unless I can magically come up with 3 - 4 grand. I'm thinking about the Bridgestone Revos, I do mostly on-road driving but I still go on muddy and gravel roads.
