Dot 3 is fine for almost all normal use as long as you change it every so often. If you are racing, towing, or other extreme use get the best you wish to pay for. I was looking at "performance" fluid because I tow a travel trailer well over 6,000 lbs. and like mountain scenery.

hey just to update u.. i bled all the brakes and bled them to the point where the new fluid was coming threw cleanly. I used GUNK dot 3 super heavy duty fluid and the brakes have gotten alot better then before... im considering re bleeding them next week just to make sure and get all that old crap out... to be honest it was the easiest thing ive done. i thought here goes 40 bux and a day of labor, it actually costed 10 bux (fluid and 1/8inch rubber tube 3 feet) and about 20 min with me under the truck and my dad pumping the brakes. the hardest part was some vavles were rusty but with a lil elbow grease its fine~!
