Question Speedometer Recalibration Question

I have the 04 F150 4x4 8200 package. So of course it came with little tires and crappy wheels. After months of waiting I finally got nice wheels and am now waiting for my new tires. I am going from the stock 245/70-17 to a 295-70/17. I know the difference in size and all that goes with it. I am not worried about the power as I have the 5.4 L and this truck has the 4:10 ratio gears stock so the bigger tires will give me a much better gearing for normal use. (About a 3:80)

I have asked the dealer about fixing the speedo, but they do not seem to have any idea if the computer can be reclaibrated for this difference in tire size.

Has anyone had this done, can it be done, and if so how? I will give the dealer istructions if need be. LOL

Thanks

Yes it can be done, the dealer should know how to do it. If not take it to a differnet dealer. Did you get the 8200# package for a reason? If so, make sure your new tires and wheels have hte same load rating as the old...

8200 package

Yea, I got it on purpose, special order with all the bells a wistles. I was very disapointed with the factory wheels. I finally got a set from American Racing, and the tires are also rated the same, They are the heavy Nitto AT's

I do some Met tower work and haul towers around in my truck, also have a 20' tandom trailer that I haul 6 ATV's on with bikes in the truck so the heavy truck is what I wanted. (The f250s ride worse!.)

My dealer set mine for $60 I have 295/70R17 Terra Grapplers on it. We have one of those radar thingies set up in town and it said I was dead on 55mph. Good thing smoky wasn't around because I was in a 30 mph zone!
