E-break

E-break
Hi,
Hey,I've got a 92 ford truck 1/2 ton 2x2.
And my E-Break is not working.
I can push the E-Breah down, but the break will not stay down in place, the break just comes back up. Will not stay in place,in place.
I sure need the break to work because when I go fishing I'm by myself. And I would hate to see the old ford roll into the lake.
And the trans,sure is hard to put into drive,and makes a loud poping sound when I put the truck into drive and drive out from the boat ramp.
