16 inch or 17 inch rims

Are there any advantages/disadvantages when comparing 16 inch to 17 inch rims?

if you are going to do alot of offroading a 16" would be better alows more sidewall flex and better floatation if you air down other than that i cant think of anything

Generally speaking (may not always be the case) 16" tires are less expensive than 17" tires. There are also more tire choices available for 16" rims.
