Need New Tires on My 04 FX4

hi everyone, i traded my 2001 f150 SCAB on a 2004 f150 SCREW, I love the new truck but I hate the tires. I have the 18" good for a year Wranglers now, a horrible ride. I hear the other stock tire from BFG are no better. Does anyone know what else is available out there?

Thanks,
JerseyShur

I have done some research and it seems that a lot of guys here like the BF ATKO, or the Bridgestone Dueller Revos. There is a problem with these tires if you have the 18" wheels as I do. The ATKO are on back order and they don't make Revos for 18" wheels. I personally want to put the Revos on mine but I would have to get new rims.

I have heard that a lot of people complain about the stock tires that come with the trucks, but I have the Goodyears and I couldn't be happier with them. I think they are a great tire for a tire that comes stock. Just my 2 cents and good luck!

THe 285/65-18 (33x11.50) BFG AT KO is probably your best bet. Also, Mickey THompson and Pro Comp are both introducing new all terrian tires, but I'm not sure what sizes will be available.

Have any of you seen or tried to put 60's on the stock 18" rims? I just wonder what that would do to milage and looks.

I also have the same rig as you and couldn't agree more. The stock tires may be the worst I've ever driven on! I have 14k on my truck and 2/3's of the tread is gone and these things have become downright dangerous in the snow! I just noticed an add for Yokohoma's in 18" rim size to add to the list. I would be interested in what you find out and end up buying. I would like to know the maximum size you can fit without a lift (maybe leveling kit) keep me posted.

The problem with the warranty is they give you the same tire. These tires are ok at best for the first 50% of tread wear, but after that is when the problems begin.

I've got the Goodyear's on my truck, 17 in. though. While I do agree that the are terrible performers, I haven't had any tread wear/life problems.

I've currently got 42k on them. I'll be replacing them with Toyo Open Country AT's or the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's. Probably in a 285/70/17 or 305/70/17.

BFG tires

I can't speak for the 18's but I can speak for BFG All-Terrain T/A's. I have 222k miles on my old girl (1997 F-150 4X4 Off-Road package). She came with Goodyears and they were falling apart after 40k miles. I switched to BFG all terrains and got 82k on the first set and 98k on the second set. Keeping in mind that unfortuneately I am terrible at maintenance. Second set on rotated about 5-6 times. Great work tires to. Me, that truck, and a chainsaw cleared 4 acres of East Texas thicket together and the BFG's worked well pulling stumps and fallen trees. Just Great Tires that I would recommend to anyone.

OK, so there's not many options for an 18 inch wheel. I'd really like to slap some BFG MT on my 2005 FX4. Anyone know where I can find some 6 lug 17x8 wheels for my FX4? Anyone want to buy my brand new 18" wheels?

I have these and love 'em! As far as them being on back order....don't be afraid to check some of your local shops. A few months back when I was shopping for tires, the 18" BFG ATs were supposedly on back order thru all the major companies. I stumbled across a set at my local tire shop. Good luck!
