Will these Lightening wheels fit my '99XL

I bought a set of used Lightening wheels for my '99 XL 2 wheel drive. The lugs are 14mm. Where can I get 12mm that will work with my 12mm studs and the Lightning wheels??

Thanks guys

If you had bought 12mm wheels and had 14mm lugs, you might have been able to have a machine shop carefully drill out the holes in the wheel, but you've got the opposite problem. The holes are too big for your truck.

You might be able to replace the front rotor/hub assemblies with newer (2000-2003) rotor/hub assemblies (which include 14mm lugs). The back axle is a little more difficult. You'll have to buy new lugs studs from Ford (I had to replace these myself due to damage; trust me when I tell you they're not available anywhere else). They cost about $30 for the axle (10 lugs). Then you'll have to open up your rear differential and pull out the axles to get enough access to pound out the old studs and pound the new ones in. Then you'll need new rotors again for the back, with 14mm lug holes (assuming you have disc brakes out back; if not, I'm not sure what can be done about drums).

I just did all this for my truck in the past couple weeks and it cost about $600 in parts plus it took about 8 hours for me and a friend. It also requires a decent bit of mechanical know-how. A Haynes manual would definitely be adviseable.

But anyway, all of these parts were made for my particular application, so I'm not sure how retrofitting would affect the job. My advice (unless you need to replace all your rotors anyway) would be to try to return or resell those wheels and buy a set that fit your application. Next time you'll know to make sure they're 12mm before you buy them.

Edit: I just thought about the fact that I used PowerSlot rotors. You could reduce the cost of the rotors by about $100 if you used regular Brembo rotors, but the nicer rotors may be a good investment with Lightning wheels anyway since they have large openings. Also, the cut-off date for the switch to 14mm is 11/30/99. Trucks made before that (including some model year 2000s) have 12mm; those made after have 14mm.
