...just a quick note about trouble that i had with my E-brake. 1997 F-150 S-cab

after noticing my E-brake was very loose, i found one of the 8x20mm (?) bolts laying loose down behind the plastic trim. The other was 90% unthreaded.

I retightened them both, with loctite!

Here are a couple pics showing were the bolts are located. maybe worth taking a quick look at yours too

 

Your post says your truck is a 97, while info below your screen name says it's a 96. Which info is correct?

It is a habit i've gotten into. The truck is a 1996.

The F-150's were available in the 1997-2003 style as well as the 90's style in 1996. If someone at the ford dealer or napa is asking about the truck i generally just tell them its a '97. it makes looking up parts less confusing...
