33x12.5 R15 on 99 Expedition?

I'm currently running the stock 265/70R17 tires/rims on my rig, and I'd really like to add a more beefy look without having to get into lifting it.

Can I put on some 15" rims, or are they too small for the brakes??

I presume I will have no issue with rubbing on a 33x12.5 tire, given that's it only about 1" taller than stock...

Thanks for any help!

I know now that the 15" rims wont work, but still, what is the largest tire I can fit on a 16" or 17" rim without rubbing? I am willing to trim the inner corner on the front fender, if necessary. I know this is hotly contested, but is 315/70 a no go w/out a lift?

Its the width that rubs. With a 12.5" tire it will rub. My suggestion is a 285/70/17 (32.7x11.3x17). This would be the largest tire I would run on an Expy.

my buddy has an expedition with 265/75/16's on it, and i know for a fact you probably cant go much bigger at all, there is maybe an inch clearance from the valence to the tire, if you put a 33x12.5 on it, you will be cutting a lot of plastic of the valence, and i dont even know if you would clear the back side of the fender, on an f150 4x4, the 33's just fit after cranking the torsion bars, and even cutting the valence possibly, so youd be pushing anything bigger then what you got on that truck

Most 4x4 Expy's came stock with 265/70-17's (32x10.50), which is the same as a 265/75-16. You can easily fit a 285/75-16, 285/70-17 (33x11.50), 305/70-16 (33x12.50), 295/75-16 or 295/70-17 (34x12.00) on a stock 4x4. Whether you have to crank the torsion bars or trim the front bumper's valance depends on what wheel you use. Put them on the stock wheel and you probably won't have to do anything. Go with a 10 inch wide wheel and you will have to crank the t-bars and trim.
