I was thinking of buying a 16.5 inch rim, because i found some for a really good deal, but somebody told me that they are a really bad wheel size, though i have never heard anything negative about them i do plan on going offroad and i was wondering if anybody on this board has any information on these wheels, they are centerlines if that helps, thanks, Brock

 

It's not that there is anything wrong with 16.5" except that there are very few tires made that will fit these wheels. You will have a much greater selection and lower price if you go with a 16" Any money that you will save buying the wheels will be used buying the tires.

I have also heard and read that 16.5" rims have a smaller bead area for the tire to seat on the rim.

 

I run 16.5's on my 97 f150 with no problem. I run 38x12.50 super swampers on them. Never had any problems.

 

16.5" (diameter) is a much more common size on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. There's a huge difference in the load rating on tires for those trucks. There's also less of a market for them. Hence, they cost more.
