Question steel vs. aluminum

I'm considering getting new rims. What are the advantages & disadvantages of steel vs. aluminum? Also, should I consider a 7 inch width or 8 inch? Tire size will stay at 265/75-16. I just want a basic rim so I'm not looking to spend a lot of money.

On 24 Nov 04 I installed four American Racing AR-767 Wheels (767-6835) with center caps and chrome lug nuts - right around $318.00 from a local Good year store.

The stock rims were 16x7 and the AR rims are 16x8 . . . can't see a difference, but I do like the black rims better than the stock polished aluminum.

I can't say if steel is better than aluminum . . .

It depends on your needs. Steel wheels are stronger, less expensive and easier to repair if they are damaged. Aluminum is lighter, which helps performance (accelaration and braking).
