Procomp, HELP FAST

Im getting my lift on in the next couple of days, 6" fabtech, and was wondering why no one this site runs procomp mud terrains. It seems as though this site is largely bfg mudders which i love and will probably go with if i dont hear anything good about the procomps. I can get the procomps cheaper but any reviews about either tire and or opinions between the two would be appreciated. By the way they are 35x12.5x17 on stock wheels.

I love my Procomp MT's!! They are the best tire, hands down, that I ever ran on a truck! People say that they are bad in the snow, but I don't share that opinion. I think they are excellent in the snow. The only time that they slip is when you get about an inch of dusting on the roads, they tend to slide around a little bit then but I have never been in a situation where I completly lost control of the truck. In deep snowfalls, they just plow on through. THe big lugs just through the snow off and keep it from packing on the lugs like an AT tire does. In comparison, my wife's Jeep liberty had BFG all terrains (now run Bridgestone Dueler Revo's - much better tire than the BFG!) and it slips and slides like no other in the snow. My full size ford is a much bettter winter vehicle and I think it is due to the MT tire.

As far as rain, the tires perform excellent. I drove 3 hours in the remainder of that Hurricane last summer as it came through PA. I was able to keep a constant 65mph without any hydroplaning even in the terrential downpours.

Dry pavement is equally good but you will have the road noise of those big lugs. The road noise is not as bad as the BFG MT tire though for some reason.

ALso, I get excellent mileage out of the Procomp MT. I got just over 40k on my first set and I have 10K on my second and they barely are showing any wear.

You can buy these tires at 4wheelparts.com. You can haggle with these guys on a better price. In fact if you don't haggle, you will get screwed! So be prepared to fight a little bit to get them at the price you wish. I paid $720 shipped for all 4 this past summer, the size I run is 35x12.5x17. They had the buy 3 get 1 free special going on at the time but I was told that you can usually fight the salesman for this price anytime.

Don't waste your money on BFG's!!! I'm telling you! They are a good tire but not worth the cash! Like I said, we bought BFG AT's for the wifes Liberty and wasn't too impressed. THey were much better than the stock Goodyears though. Last month we just put on a set (on the liberty) of Bridgestone Dueler Revo's which were half the price with a similar tread and they perform equally as well if not better than the BFG AT. Thus the BFG is a great tire, but I would consider other less expensive tires. Go with the Procomps if you want a MT! If you want AT, I would consider the Bridgestones that I have on the jeep.

Thanx

I was really worrying about wet road traction becuase my dad already worryies about me enough when i am out on the wet roads. It is good to hear that the procomp are good in this situation, probably due to the large amount of siping. I appreciate this, and if you could wirte back i would love to know if you used them in ice or mud just to get more information.

Yeah, I have been running these tires on my truck since fall of 2000. I live near Pittsburgh, PA so we get our fair share of ice and snow. It will slide in ice just like any tire. It also doesn't help that I have a 12.5" tire on there which will make it slide even more than the stock tire size but still have never been in a situation where I lost control of this truck with the MT tires on (I did loose control of it with the stock Goodyears though, but not sure if it was a result of just the tire).

I also 4x4 now and then. In terms of mudding, that is what the tire is designed for. So of course, it performs exceptionally well.

Yes, they have white letters on one side and blacked out on the other

I didn't read anyone's responses but I run the ProComp AT's and love em. I've used BF AT's and love them too but neither manf.'s MT's. I had a hard time picking between BF ProComp and Bridgestone Revo's but I'm very happy w/ Procomps. 10000 mi and minmal if any noticable where. I do light off roading basically just getting to the fishing hole. I live in MA so I do alot of snow driving. I've been maybe 18-20" of mud and had no trouble getting through and the snow is cake but in the rain these like to spin. Just my 2 cents. I've heard good things about the Procomp MT's but never used them.

Ok now I read the responses. I just want to state the while driving the ProComps have never hydroplaned nor have I had any nervousness in the steering. I may have a heavy foot and a 5.4 which kinda makes this spinning tires a bit my fault

BFG=Great Tire but high price. ProComp=Great tire reasonable price. That's just my opinion on the 2 AT's I've run on almost identical trucks.
