Class S Chains?

I recently purchased a 2002 F-150 SuperCrew 4X4 with the off-road package and P265/70R-17 tires. I am buying chains for it as I live in Wyoming and do some diving through snow and mud during hunting excursions. The owners manual says to use only “SAE Class S chains”. Is this for real?! A full size 4X4 and I need to use Class S chains? I would really prefer to use more aggressive chains if possible. Does anyone out there have any experience with this?
Thanks

I live in Colorado and am an avid hunter and fisherman. I use the most aggressive cross X design chains I can get. Just make sure that they are absolutely tight and you should be alright. In some of the high country you need this type of chain or you might not get out - I know places in Wyoming are the same. Semper Fi

Sounds like a CYA to prevent frivilous claims from idiots who don't know how to properly mount chains. Rules to protect morons from themselves.
