BIG Problem

The other night i was driving through a neighborhod and all of a sudden my brakes were making this terrible metal to metal sound. I assumed it was my brake pads so the next day i took my other car to work. As soon as i got home i brought my 2003 fx4 to kaufman tires where they are telling me my pads are 80-85% warn. The problem is that i only have 13,500 miles on my truck!!

Anyone know what going on??
Should i take it back to the dealership??

If it's making a horrible metal to metal sound, you should be able to easily locate the trouble with a thorough examination. It could be many things from wear, to a loose part or a stuck caliper. It shouldn't be general wear from a properly functioning brake system at that mileage.

With only 13,500 miles on it, why are you taking it anyplace other than your dealer. Everything should still be under warranty. Wild sounds from a brake syatem are usually VERY easy to diagnose.
