E brake cable problems

OK, my front emergency brake cable snapped on my 97' F150 with 82,000 on it. I can see how to fix it, but my problem is getting the right cable. I have ordered a cable from 3 different places and each time got the wrong cable. The cable they keep sending me is better than 2 feet too short! I looked at the books they have and all the different wheel bases for the 97 and suroundin gyears all use the same part, what is going on with mine?

I have a manual transmition and am not comfortable using gears to hold the truck in place all the time. I really need help here.

Wheel Base

You should be able to find the Wheel base lenght of your Truck by looking at the sticker in the Driverside Door Jam.

That is the length they need to order you the right part.

The truck has a 139" wheel base. All wheel bases had the same part number.

I did finally find one place that had the correct cable for my truck, (only took them 2 weeks to get one in). Got the part in, now I need to re-adjust the brakes for the new cable. One of the wheels isn't even getting tentionon it when the brake is set. Any recources on how to adjust them properly?
